CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services (International)

Entry requirements: Prospective students are required to complete the Pre-Training Interview form, to the satisfaction of ITHEA. You must have good word processing and email skills as well as the ability to download and upload documents and information. Please see our Online Service Standards. You will also need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency. The table below shows the English language test providers and the minimum overall band scores you must achieve to meet the Student visa English language requirement.

You must have completed the English language test within either:

• the 2 years before the date your visa application is lodged
• the 2 years before a decision is made on your visa application if you did not provide evidence of the English language test at the time your application was lodged.

English language evidence exemptions

You do not need to provide evidence of an English test score with your visa application if one of the following applies:

you are a citizen and hold a passport from UK*, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland

• you are an applicant who is a Foreign Affairs or, Defence sponsored student or a Secondary Exchange student (AASES)
• you are enrolled in a principal course of study that is a registered school course, a standalone English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS), a course registered to be delivered in a language other than English, or a registered post-graduate research course
• you have completed at least 5 years’ study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland
• In the 2 years before applying for the student visa, you completed, in Australia and in the English language, either the Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or a substantial component of a course leading to a qualification from the Australian Qualifications Framework at the Certificate IV or higher level, while you held a student visa.

*Note: You may be required to provide evidence of an English test score with your visa application if you hold a British National Overseas (BNO) passport.

Other Entry Requirements

Note: For Early Childhood Education streams: A current Working With Children Check is required by all students. Application for this will be completed at the ITHEA Orientation.
For Aged Care streams: A National Police check will be completed prior to attending practical placement.

For Disability and Community Services streams: A current Working With Children Check is required by all students. Application for this will be completed at the ITHEA Orientation. In addition, a National Police check will be completed prior to attending practical placement.

Assessment: Assessment methods allow for the gathering of sufficient quality evidence about the student’s performance. Methods used include question and answer, class activities, observation, role plays, case studies and projects.

Practical placement: To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 200 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. Students are required to undertake supervised practical placement in a relevant community service delivery setting, involving, for example, direct client work or community education or development. Evidence provided by the supervisor will contribute to assessment of the candidate’s ability to work at this level. Students are required to find their own practical placement, however ITHEA will provide assistance and support where needed. Students must have a valid National Police Check and a Working with Children Check prior to attending placement.

How to Apply

Steps

1. Complete the International Student Application Form.

2. Provide answers to Part A of the Student Application Form, in detail, and on separate paper.

3. Provide a copy of your English Language proficiency.

4. Provide a copy of your Passport.

5. Provide copies of any Academic Transcripts.

6. Provide a copy of your Curriculum Vitae (CV).

7. Provide a copy of your Financial Statement showing that you have sufficient funds to cover your travel costs and 12 months of living and tuition fees.

8. Send your International Student Application Form with all supporting documents by email (apply@ithea.edu.au) or through an authorised education agent. ITHEA administration team will process applications quickly. Applicants will then receive notification informing them of the result of their application.

Receiving a Letter of Offer and Enrolment Acceptance Agreement

Upon receipt of your completed application form and required relevant documents, ITHEA will ensure that all necessary entry requirements are met before issuing a Letter of Offer and an Enrolment Acceptance Agreement outlining the nominated course(s), duration of course(s), Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), deposit required and instalment plan.

Please read and understand the Enrolment Acceptance Agreement before returning the complete signed document to ITHEA. We will also require your initial payment as indicated on the Enrolment Acceptance Agreement. Please ensure all payments are in Australian Dollars. When you have completed these steps, ITHEA will then send you a copy of the Confirmation of Enrolment(s) – eCoE(s)

Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE)

Take the copy of the Confirmation of Enrolment(s) – eCoE(s) to the Australian Consulate, Embassy, High Commission in your home country and apply for a student visa. If you are applying for your student visa directly, you can obtain information from the Department of Home Affairs www.homeaffairs.gov.au or your local Australian Diplomatic Mission. The Department will then commence procedures for the issue of your visa. As this can take some time, it is important that your application is submitted well before your course start date.
