At ITHEA, our community service programs are designed to give students valuable skills, knowledge and insight into community services, social housing, and case management. Our community services course is a 2-year diploma that requires students to undertake at least 100 hours of practical placement. With both in-person and online classes available, these flexible study options flexibility in how they complete their course. As part of practical placement, students can undertake their work placement at one of the non-profit community or local community service partners we are affiliated with. Under the guidance of senior management and working autonomously, students gain valuable skills and understanding of disadvantaged individuals or groups in the community.

Upon completion of the community service course in Melbourne, students can obtain employment in several roles including, child welfare officer, community services case manager, residential carer, child protection or social housing coordinator. Our community college courses are skills first funded and students have the option for further study at Swinburne University. Students who wish to continue further studies will have grades credited towards their new course, allowing them to complete it in less time. To gain entry into this course all prospective students must have a valid National Police Check and Working with Children Check or must be willing to obtain one before commencement.
