In breaking news, the Australian federal government has announced a new payment of up to $500, that will be available to anyone who has lost work in greater Melbourne over the next week. From now on, anybody who loses work in any state or territory that goes into a lockdown of longer than seven days will be able to access the “temporary COVID disaster payment”. International students are eligible, and the payment can be applied for via Services Australia.
