General: The CHC52015 Diploma in Community Services Bendigo programme provides learning opportunities to understand the roles that community services, case management and social housing workers attend to, when managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities. Through the CHC52015 Diploma in Community Service Bendigo course, learners will appreciate the specialised skills required in community services and working autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Diploma in Community Service Bendigo learners will understand how workers usually provide direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Completing the Diploma in Community Service Bendigo course provides students with opportunities to apply for roles within the wider scope of community services work.
Employment Growth: Upon their graduation from the Diploma of Community Services Bendigo programmes, students may access roles requiring the supervision of other workers and volunteers, or in those requiring case management; programme coordination or the development of new business opportunities.

Entry requirements: Prospective students are required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment and a Pre-Training Interview, administered by and to the satisfaction of ITHEA and be at least 18 years of age. You must have good word processing and email skills as well as the ability to download and upload documents and information. Please see our Online Service Standards.
Vocational outcomes: Students can go into a range of employment options. Occupations may include Child Welfare Officer, Residential Carer (Child Protection), Social Housing Coordinator, Community Services Case Manager.

The Social Services Jobs Guarantee: Under the Social Services Jobs Guarantee, all our students who graduate from the Diploma of Community Services between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2024 are guaranteed employment.
Delivery and assessment: We offer students the flexibility of choosing between online learning or classroom delivery. All students will be enrolled into our Learning Management System and all assessments must be completed online. As a result, all students will require a personal computer, with access to the Internet, to successfully complete their studies. Assessment methods allow for the gathering of sufficient quality evidence about the student’s performance. Methods used include question and answer, class activities, observation, role plays, case studies and projects.
Practical placement requirements: To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 100 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. Students are required to undertake supervised practical placement in a relevant community service delivery setting, involving, for example, direct client work or community education or development. Evidence provided by the supervisor will contribute to assessment of the candidate’s ability to work at this level. Students are required to find their own practical placement, however ITHEA will provide assistance and support where needed. Students must have a valid National Police Check and a Working with Children Check prior to attending placement.
